| GLOBAL
PROJECTS - TOUCHING THE LIVES OF MILLIONS |
| |
The
Chinmaya Movement started as a crusade for spreading the message
of the ancient scriptural texts of Hinduism. It branched out
into various activities of selfless service. Swami Chinmayananda
ushered in many projects that were tailor-made to suit the needs
of the people whom the Chinmaya Mission served.
With inspired and dedicated workers, the projects had a visible
effect on the social and moral fibre of the community at large.
Globally, the Chinmaya Movement became synonymous with acquiring
knowledge of scriptures, having concern for humanity, and for
rendering selfless service. Below you will find listed some
of the projects that are currently conducted by Chinmaya Mission. |
| |
| The
impact of the TV media is tremendous as seen by the success
of serials on Ramayan and Mahabharat. The theme of the Upanishads,
however, is unique and has never before been telecast as a serial.
Chinmaya Mission feels privileged to take up this project. "Chinmaya
Creations", a wing of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, will
produce this project. Salient Features: |

majority of India lives in its villages, yet, unfortunately

problems and sufferings. |

programme in 1985, and which is today a comprehensive and integrated
rural development programme with the end goal of holistic health
and women's empowerment. It is the umbrella body for the Chinmaya
Mission's rural upliftment projects in India. Its aim is to
facilitate participatory and integrated sustainable development
for the poor, by harnessing human resources and enabling the
poor to transform their lives through programmes driven by themselves.

SEVA CENTRE, SIDHABARI |
| Swami
Chinmayananda conceived of the Chinmaya Seva Centre as an example
of Vedanta in action. Divorce, wife-desertion are common occurrences
among the Pahadi dwellers in the mountain region of Kangra Valley.

exploitation. The Chinmaya Seva Project was designed to make
such women lead a life of self-respect and dignity by training
them in some vocation that they could easily learn and start
earning. More |
