CHYKS COMPLETE THE LONDON MARATHON |
| As
part of our annual fundraising drive, 2 CHYKs (Chinmaya Yuva
Kendra - Youth wing of Chinmaya Mission), Neeraj Nathwani
and Dr Prithviraj Bahadursingh completed the London
Marathon on 23rd April 2006. Both are elated for their accomplishment
and we are all extremely grateful for their efforts in raising
funds for the Mission. We would like to extend a very special
thanks to both runners and all those who sponsored them and
helped to raise £14,449 for Chinmaya Mission UK! |

MISSION MARATHON HEROES |
| Why
I Am Running The London Marathon By Prithviraj Bahadursingh |
Swami
Chinmayananda is our Guru and one of the great Saints of our
ancient tradition of Rishis. He worked tirelessly to give us
the wisdom of our ancient tradition in a form so easily palatable
for the modern mind.
He covered the length and breath of the globe teaching us through
discourses and also writing so many books solely for our spiritual
development. His life was an expression of divinity and one
of example for us to emulate.
The marathon effort is to help raise funds to continue the work
of our Guru Swami Chinmayananda. The decision to run the marathon
was out of deepest revrence and humblest gratitude to our Teacher
for all that He has given us. |

| Why
I Am Running The London Marathon By Neeraj Nathwani |
| Running
in the London Marathon 2006 is important to me because it is
enabling me to put into practice what I learn and to somehow
transcend the physical limitations of my body. Three years ago
doctors told me that I could never run again due to a chronic
problem with my knees - so I need to be sensible - but what
motivates me every time I set out for a run as part of the rigorous
training leading up to the marathon is that this is my service
to Him.
Failure
is not an option because that would be unjust to the masters
who have given us so much knowledge. Running isn't difficult
- more than anything, it's a time when I am able to consolidate
ideas, solidify thoughts and reaffirm my greater convictions.
And I feel lucky, because when I'm running I feel attuned
to nature, it's only when that unison is broken that I feel
like stopping.
My
aspiration is that the Mission will grow as a result of the
spirit fostered and the funds raised from running the London
Marathon. But ultimately - my bit is to run, and I remain
focused on that alone. I'm not really thinking about the time
it will take to run the marathon and finishing it - Training
is important and so I train diligently, keeping in mind Gurudev's
message to 'Do your best and leave the rest'.
