The Self, I and the World: Practical Vedanta, an experiential course

Adults class

A new format for studying Vedanta where participants meet once a month for one year to talk about important aspects of transactional life – be it relationships, family and children or workplace behaviour.

The application of Vedanta to these aspects will be discussed in detail over 90 minutes. Related exercises will also be given to carry out before the next meeting. The class then meets again to discuss your experiences and see what needs to be adjusted in terms of intention, attitude, and belief to give even more of a positive experience.

Sessions will begin on Friday 25 January 2019. They will be held on the fourth Friday of each month and each session will consist of a short meditation and a talk covering the practical application of Vedantic principles, followed by questions & answers.

The topics for reflection and practice which will be covered over the year are as follows:

  • Vedanta and its practice
  • The game of life
  • Self-awareness and identity
  • Attachment and its causes
  • Values and strength of character
  • The power of choice
  • Tools for change
  • Acceptance and forbearance
  • Emotional strength
  • Constructive relationships
  • Solitude and meditation
  • Life of vision
