CMUK families enjoy a special camp with Swamini Supriyananda

From 26 to 29 May 2023, over 100 Chinmaya Mission devotees attended our first UK family camp in many years. We took over a picturesque holiday village in the peak district in north England and spent a blissful few days exploring the life and lessons of our beloved Sri Ram.

Under the guidance of Swamini Supriyananda and Shripriyaji, a team of sevaks led attendees through a range of sessions – from bhajans to walks in the woods, storytelling to outdoor team games.

Swaminiji’s sessions for the parents were beautifully tailored to encourage us all to try and live a life of Truth, taking Sri Ram’s example as our guide. Each age group, from Shishu Vihar, through Bal Vihar to Junior CHYK also benefitted from time with Swaminiji and Shripriyaji to learn more about how the Ramayana is relevant to us all, even from an early age.

Nine-year old Iva was sad to have to leave at the end of the camp but said “My favourite part was the bedtime stories that Swaminiji told us every night. I can’t wait to join the next family camp.” Neither can we, Iva!

In addition to the individual, personal development for those who attended, it was heartening to see children and parents out in the sun between classes, forming new friendships and strengthening the Chinmaya Mission UK family.

If you’re keen to try out another family camp soon, be sure to check out the annual family camp at the end of the year in India – the 2023 camp is from 26 December to 1 January and on the poet Kabir (https://www.chinmayamission.com/event/camp-on-kabir-his-songs-his-wisdom/).

Jai Sri Ram!
