Learning to chant the Holy Geeta in Sanskrit from memory as a 5 year old? An amazing feat! Chanting has many known benefits; concentration, calming the mind, learning Sanskrit, focus, determination, inspiration and much much more…
For many years, children attending Bala Vihar classes have been learning to chant various verses of the Geeta. This is no small task for them. The words are sometimes long and sometimes complicated, yet they persevere and by the end are chanting, by memory, long verses in Sanskrit! They enjoy the process and the sense of achievement at the end. Most importantly, they learn in a fun manner, the values and meaning of the Geeta.
This year, we’d love for you to sponsor them for their efforts, whether it be a set amount per verse or one joint amount. The children are learning chapter 15 of the Geeta, a chapter that tells us everything we need to know about who we are, what is this world we live in, who is God, how we can reach the Truth and what happiness we can find when we do! They have been learning all year and their efforts will culminate in chanting at Geeta Jayanti, on 8th December.
Every pound will go back towards the valuable work of Chinmaya Mission. Bala Vihar classes provide spiritual and cultural orientation to children of the modern age. Swami Chinmayananda created the Bala Vihar system to enable parents to raise children who are self-confident, dynamic and inspire them to serve the communities they live in. Bala Vihar provides children an atmosphere to grow up with ideals and fulfil their potential.
The contributions will be used to support Chinmaya Mission projects in UK and India including Chinmaya University, a university that aims to bridge ancient knowledge with modern day life, with the motto “Knowledge protects culture forever. Cultured people share abundantly” http://www.cvv.ac.in/
