Reflect on our pledge
29th December 2013New years message – 2001
29th December 2013In gratitude
I am overwhelmed by the amazing manner in which you all responded to the Sammelan. I have no words and no way to thank you enough. It is indeed a fitting tribute to Pujya Gurudev’s everlasting presence and continuing grace. While I bow down to Him in gratitude for being in and through it all, precious too are the instruments through whom He worked – the thousands of devotees who helped plan and execute it, who contributed to its success in so many ways – unstinted effort and time, funds, contacts, skills, knowhow – in a true yagna spirit of dedication and devotion. To each one of you who helped make it happen – organisers, volunteers and delegates – my sincere thanks on behalf of the entire Mission. It is natural for devotees to wish to serve the cause but there were so many who did not know of the Mission earlier but who got inspired and gave their best to the Sammelan – to them my special thanks. To all those who could not make it to the Sammelan – you were deeply missed but your mental presence and good wishes were felt throughout.
I am still inundated by letters and phone calls of appreciation and am deeply touched. However, it is not possible for me to respond to each one of you individually – so please accept my thanks through this letter.
I wish to share with you some aspects of the Sammelan in retrospect.
Meeting the objectives
The expectations from the Chinmaya Vishwa Sammelan were outlined time and again in the objectives of the Sammelan. Briefly they were
To convey our heartfelt gratitude to Pujya Gurudev for everything.
To meet in a true family spirit and rejoice in our togetherness.
To convey to the Mission members and the public the expanse and reach of Pujya Gurudev’s work.
To be inspired by the Sammelan and each other, to deeply feel – I’m CM and rededicate ourselves to the vision and the cause
I feel deeply fulfilled that all these objectives have been amply met.
Where do we go from here?
The Chinmaya Vishwa Sammelan is over. But the vision and work must continue and grow. I have introduced the Chinmaya Vibhuti project to you. It is the project of the future – the project of all projects. I will be developing the project in greater details and, from time to time, communicating its status and your role in it. In the meantime, to do better and better what you are already doing is what Pujya Gurudev always advised.
My message to you post -Sammelan
You are deeply inspired by the whole Sammelan. Now you also have the true standards by which we should do things in the Mission. Keep the vision glowing.
Let us all pledge:
Yan maarge vayam dikshitaa guro shikshitaa yathaa tathaa karishyaamahe
Oh Master! We shall follow the path in which we have been initiated and instructed by you and act accordingly.
(From the Vishwa Sammelan theme song)
We can! We must! We will!
With Prem & Om,
Swami Tejomayananda
(Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide)
