‘Chinmaya Yuva Kendra’ or CHYK UK is the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission UK. Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of Chinmaya Mission, always said it was far more relevant for young people to understand the purpose of life and how to live rather than contemplating life’s big questions in old age when life has largely passed us by.

It is our experience as students and young professionals that Vedanta can give us the tools to live life with equipoise and confidence, enabling us to awaken and channel our inherent energy.

At its heart, Vedanta questions the purpose of life and through logic, indicates how the contentment we universally seek lies within. Vedanta is the philosophical core of the Bhagavad Geeta and Upanishads. Its principles however, are timeless and universal, and can benefit anyone from any background when applied.

CHYK UK exists to share the timeless knowledge of Vedanta to any and all who seek it, primarily through study classes of different levels for 18-35 year olds. Our regular classes offer an open environment where there is no ‘membership’ or ‘joining’ – but offer a space to learn the essence of the Geeta and Upanishads in language that is accessible to modern man.

Through discussion with like-minded people, regular classes give us the platform to learn and apply the wisdom of Vedanta in our careers, studies and relationships. CHYK UK also organises unique seminars, retreats and stage performances throughout the year, and inspires young people to participate in various seva (volunteer) activities of Chinmaya Mission UK, as a means for personal growth.

Our events, classes and retreats attract hundreds of young people who are on the road to material success but also seek something a little deeper.

All young enquiring minds are welcome!

“Through attending CHYK classes I’ve learnt so much about myself and the world around me, and have also met and formed relationships with some amazing and inspirational people.” – Bhavin Manek
