24th September 2024Chinmaya Mission UK’s Mentoring Program Launches with the ‘Cooking with Love’ Series
This past weekend, the aroma of spices filled the air as our Chinmaya family came together for the first-ever 'Cooking with Love' class! This event marks the launch of our Chinmaya Mission UK Mentoring Program, an initiative designed to bridge the sharing of knowledge between generations and foster connections within our community.
Our talented chefs and teachers for the day, Kanchan Aunty and Nisha Aunty, generously shared their culinary wisdom and passion for food with our eager CHYKs and CSKs. The kitchen transformed into a vibrant hub of learning as our younger generation absorbed time-honoured techniques and recipes including sai bhaji, methi pulao, aloo tikki and coriander chutney.
The session was more than just a cooking class, participants were also guided through the interrelationship between food and Vedanta and the importance of eating a sattvic diet. As Swami Chinmayananda once said, “the food that we take in and the thoughts and actions that spring forth from us have a distinct relationship. In the computer world, there is a well-known saying - ‘garbage in, garbage out’. This seems to be true for our bodies as well.”
A huge thank you to Kanchan Aunty and Nisha Aunty for sharing their culinary expertise and infectious enthusiasm. Stay tuned for more exciting events and activities as part of our Mentoring Program and the 'Cooking with Love' series.
