REPORT ON THE FUNCTION OF “KEY HANDING OVER CEREMONY” HELD ON 6TH AUGUST 2019 AT CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA, CHENGANNUR
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Chengannur was celebrating Independence Day on 15thAugust 2018, when devastating flood waters entered the Chengannur Township. The school’s infrastructure and buses were damaged. Large multitudes lost their houses.
Chinmaya Mission rallied together to address the situation created by the floods. Our Swamins, Brahmacharins, Mission members, CHYK groups and residents of the town, led by Swami Viviktananda, Regional Head, Chinmaya Mission Centres, Kerala, Shri R Suresh Mohan, Chief Sevak of Chinmaya Seva Trust, Kerala and President CV Chengannur and Shri C Ashok, Manager of CV Chengannur – swung into action.
Pujya Swami Swaroopananda’s appeal for funds resulted in a global upsurge. Mission Trusts and individual members donated generously, which resulted in relief material and supplies being distributed to thousands of flood victims. Facilitated by generous contributions and the tireless efforts of the various teams, a month later, the school re-opened.
As part of their seva to society, CCMT decided to construct ten houses. By 3rdAugust 2019, Chinmaya Aradhana Day, four of the houses in Phase 1, were ready for occupation.
With the blessings of Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, at the Key Handover Ceremony on 6th August, amidst a general air of jubilation, in the presence of the beneficiaries and their families a special pooja of the house keys was performed.
The four keys were handed over to Ms Manisha Khemlani, Guest of Honour and CEO, CCMT. In her address, she congratulated Swami Viviktananda, Shri Suresh Mohan, the Chinmaya Vidyalaya team and all the volunteers led by Shri C Ashok for their monumental efforts of providing homes, to some flood affected families. She thanked all the Chinmaya Mission families in India and abroad for their generous support.
The selected recipients were profuse in their praise. They thanked Chinmaya Mission for their thoughtful generosity.
