Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Ongoing Celebrations

Swamins, Brahmacharins, Centres and Members of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide

Dear All,

Hari Om!

Greetings for India’s Independence Day!

On 15 August 1947, Indians gained independence and now on 15 August 2023, India is all set to joyously celebrate a historic landmark – completion of 75 years of independence!

Last year, to honour this glorious landmark, the Government of India launched ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, part of which was the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to encourage all Indians to hoist the National Flag in their homes. It aimed to evoke a sense of patriotism and love in all hearts for the country; to remember with gratitude those great men and women who toiled without rest, to build this worshipful nation.

With even greater enthusiasm, I urge all members of Chinmaya Mission to hoist the Tricolour (Tiranga) in their homes from 13 August to 15 August this year as well. Do watch and share this video:

To celebrate this occasion Chinmaya Upahar, like last year, has made available a whole range of Khadi National Flags in different sizes for use in various spaces. To enable timely delivery, do place your orders immediately. These can also be ordered for future events. For more information, click on the link below.

Along with Har Ghar Tiranga, the Ministry of Culture has shared that, “’Meri Maati Mera Desh’ will be celebrated as the culminating event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aimed at paying tribute to the ‘Veers’ of our nation who sacrificed their lives for our motherland. Commemorative events are envisaged to be organized at Panchayat/Village, Block, Urban, Local Body, State and National levels.” For more information on how to be involved, please visit:

Wherever possible, Chinmaya Mission members should participate in the celebrations and make this an event to remember. As dedicated citizens, let’s share this information in all ways and on all available platforms, to encourage our contacts to participate in this heartfelt venture.

Let us recall and inculcate with hearts full of pride, Pujya Gurudev’s vision and devotion for the nation.

Jai Hind!

At His feet,

Swami Swaroopananda
